We're excited to be packing our bags for the Emirati Conference on Medical Education (ECME) in Abu Dhabi this February 7–8. If you're involved in healthcare training in the UAE or broader region, we'd love to meet you there.

About ECME

Now in its fourth year, ECME brings together educators, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers who share a common goal: improving healthcare training. Expect thought-provoking keynotes, hands-on workshops, and plenty of conversations about where medical education is heading, from competency-based approaches to digital tools that actually make a difference.

We'll be there showcasing the MyProgress ePortfolio, our platform that helps learners capture evidence of their clinical skills, get timely feedback, and see their progress through clear dashboards and analytics.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating: The NIHS ePortfolio

There's another reason this conference feels special. Our visit coincides with something genuinely exciting happening in UAE medical education.

Working alongside the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS), we've helped launch a unified national ePortfolio—the first of its kind in the region. It's now supporting postgraduate trainees across 17 specialties, from one-year dental internships to multi-year medical residencies, all on a single platform.

What does that mean in practice? Trainees and faculty across all Emirates can now:

  • Track Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and procedures specific to their specialty

  • Access dashboards that instantly visualise progress, not just present data

  • Generate reports aligned with competency frameworks like CanMEDS (with ACGME alignment available too)

Everyone logs in through UAE PASS, the country's secure digital identity system, so there's no juggling multiple credentials.

“Through the NIHS ePortfolio, we have brought together postgraduate programs on a unified national platform. Its flexibility enables each specialty to seamlessly integrate Competency-Based Medical Education through Entrustable Professional Activities and procedure logs tailored to their specific training needs. This milestone marks a new chapter of innovation and excellence in postgraduate medical education across the UAE.”

Dr. Mohamed Al Houqani, Secretary General, National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS), UAE

Why We Think This Matters

Medical education is changing fast. The old ways of tracking progress—paper forms, disconnected systems, assessments that happen in isolation—just don't cut it anymore. Tools like MyProgress give learners ownership of their development, help educators spot where support is needed, and give institutions the evidence to make fair, informed decisions.

We're genuinely proud of what we've built with NIHS, and we're looking forward to sharing it with the ECME community.

If you're attending, please stop by our booth and say hi. We'd love to hear what challenges you're facing and show you how digital portfolios can help.
