Press Release

6 More Pan London Universities Launch the Myprogress ePAD for Nursing Students

MyKnowledgeMap is proud to announce that its award-winning Myprogress ePAD solution has been rolled out to six more Pan London Universities.

The Pan London Practice Learning Group (PLPLG) represents 14 Approved Education Institutions (AEIs) across London. The group promotes best practice in, and a standardised approach to nursing student placement assessment in the capital.

Having successfully introduced the standardised Pan London Practice Assessment Document (PAD), the PLPLG are now progressing the project away from paper to an online solution; the Pan London ePAD. The ePAD will allow AEIs to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the assessment of nursing students during their practice placements, replacing paper formats.

MyKnowledgeMap’s Myprogress ePAD has been chosen as the solution to make this shift towards a digital future. MyKnowledgeMap’s Myprogress ePAD SaaS solution is an offline mobile assessment and e-portfolio solution that can be tailored to an AEI’s requirements.

The following six Pan London universities have now also chosen MyKnowledgeMap’s Myprogress ePAD as the solution for this:

  • Kingston University
  • St George’s University
  • Buckinghamshire New University
  • University of East London
  • London South Bank University
  • University of Hertfordshire

The Myprogress ePAD is already in use by several of the Pan London AEIs:

  • University of Roehampton
  • Middlesex University
  • University of Greenwich
  • City, University of London

The Myprogress ePAD can be used via a smartphone or tablet app, as well as online, and the app has offline capability so it can be used even when students are in an area without internet connectivity. It can be customised to a university’s unique needs and is accessible to users with disabilities. The ePAD system supports logical flows through the practice assessment templates and gives notifications of any potential problems or actual problems arising with student performance. It facilitates communication between students and staff during the students’ time on placement.

Some of the features the Pan London AEIs requested were quite unique. One major consideration was how the Pan London group requires consistency of the assessment framework, whilst each of the AEIs in the group also needs a certain amount of customisation. For example, each AEI can maintain AEI specific branding and general or module-specific guidance that is displayed only to their staff and students. Each AEI can also set its own courses, part structure and placement period plans within the system.

The Myprogress ePAD was able to accommodate all these features and MyKnowledgeMap is proud to now be working with the majority of the Pan London AEIs.

"On behalf of the Pan London Consortium I’m delighted that we are now in partnership with MyKnowledgeMap to deliver the ePAD. This will represent a major step forward in providing effective support to student nurses during their practice placements" says Nicki Fowler, Deputy Chair of the Pan London Practice Learning Group.

Guides for academics, assessors, supervisors, and students can be found on the Pan London Practice Learning Group website: https://plplg.uk/

So what do the learners using Myprogress think of it? We asked some nursing students from Middlesex University for feedback, and this is what they said.

The MyProgress ePAD is now used in approximately 30% of all UK Medical Schools and 40% of UK Nursing Schools, and an increasing number in Australia, Singapore, USA and Europe. It is also the supplier to the UK General Medical Council for their OSCE and PLAB1 examinations systems.

The MyProgress solution has won various international awards and in 2020 was shortlisted by the Times Higher Education Supplement for “Digital Innovation of the Year”.
