UpBete wins at Quality in Care Awards

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust won two awards at the recent Quality in Care Awards for "the further development of a Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service by enhancing training and education for both staff, patients and their families."

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust won two awards at the recent Quality in Care Awards for "the further development of a Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service by enhancing training and education for both staff, patients and their families."

Judges comments included: "A wonderful concept with results we would want to see in every centre. I was impressed with the 3 way partnership between the university, clinical team and website designed for families."

UpBete, www.upbete.co.uk, is an award winning patient education website that provides information and resources as well as interactive support to improve the management and long-term health of young people with Type 1 diabetes; helping to dispel fears and misconceptions about diabetes. The UpBete project was developed by MyKnowledgeMap working in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Leeds, with input from the patients and their families themselves
