MyKnowledgeMap celebrated a strong showing at the Yorkshire Digital & Technology Awards this week, winning the award for the Best Educational Software and e-Learning Initiative and receiving a "highly commended" award for the Best Application of Mobile Technology.

Both awards were for systems based on MyKnowledgeMap's Assessment Tiger software, which allows teachers and managers to send personalised assessments and learning materials direct to people's smartphones. The judges were particularly impressed by how the system has been rolled out at Leeds School of Medicine, where 600 student doctors are using it on their iPhones.

The judges said it was "way ahead of everything else, and hits all the buttons". They added: "With tremendous long-term potential, this is the kind of thing that can roll out across all the NHS teaching hospitals. It has scalability and it can roll out into other fields. It saves costs which is very important in the current climate. It is innovative. Best of all, it is relatively straightforward."

Within the Best Application of Mobile Technology category, the judges pointed to Assessment Tiger as an "excellent development in the business issue of getting information to students. "

Rob Arntsen, CEO of MyKnowledgeMap, said: "We are tremendously proud of what we have achieved with the new Assessment Tiger tool. We have been working at the cutting edge of mobile learning technology for the last six years, and the latest generation of smartphones have allowed us to roll out powerful mobile learning in a simple, low-cost way."

The Insider Yorkshire Digital & Technology Awards celebrate the cream of the region's marketing, web design and IT talent.
