08 October 2007 - MyKnowledgeMap to launch new e-portfolio system at first human capital technology summit in Maastricht
From the 17th-19th October 2007, MyKnowledgeMap will be at the 5th annual international ePortfolio conference in Maastricht, part of the first Human Capital and Social Innovation Technology Summit (HCSIT), to launch our new e-portfolio system, 'Multi-Port'.
Unique in Europe, HCSIT connects ideas, people and organisations in the field of digital technologies and human capital and takes place in conjunction with ePortfolio 2007, the key international event for the growing community of e-portfolio professionals, now in its fifth year.
Multi-Port is a development of the work-based and competency-based assessment systems for qualifications we have created with partners including Foundation Degree Forward (the UK government agency for Foundation Degrees), leading Higher Education institutions, and sector skills bodies developing NVQs. It is a flexible e-portfolio designed to easily manage all aspects of assessment and evidence-based reflective learning.
The product suite constitutes three core elements, targeted to different assessment styles and learning methods, that work seamlessly together or stand-alone. In the Thought-Port, learners can keep an informal record of their learning in the form of a blog, recording ideas and reflecting on learning they have covered. The Skills-Port enables a more formal record of assessment to be kept—such as assessment tracking for NVQ delivery or competency mapping. The Centre-Port offers remote tutor and assessor support online, allowing tutors staff to keep in touch with learners whether in or remote from the workplace.
Modular in design, Multi-Port can be extended and customised to provide the features required of its user's curriculum - from formal competency-based assessments, to online spaces where learners can reflect informally on their experiences and can also be used with Moodle, a free open source online learning delivery platform.
Taking advantage of the leading-edge technologies being developed in our labs, Multi-Port will be extended and adapted during 2008 with additional releases including, Mobile-Port to deliver assessments direct to learners' smartphones or PDAs and Card-Port which integrates Multi-Port with a skills passport-type smartcard system.
ePortfolio 2007 is a key international event for the growing community of professionals interested in, and working with, e-portfolios. This year's conference will be focusing on employability and lifelong learning in the knowledge society. MyKnowledgeMap are 'silver sponsors' at the event, organised by EIfEL (European Institute for Education & Learning), an international leader in the field of learning technologies and e-portfolios. The conference provides a unique opportunity for MyKnowledgeMap to showcase Multi-Port to key decision and policy-makers from human resources, employment and industry, as well as the education and training sectors, all sharing an interest in the emergence of innovative new learning technologies and organisational learning.
