02 September 2006 - MKM assist competency mapping for medical students
A consortium of leading university medical schools in the UK have contracted MKM to assist in the construction of competency mapping in core skills for medical students. Students across 16 professions ranging from nursing to social care will be involved in the study led by the University of Leeds Medical School. The project forms part of a 5 year government programme of investment into skills mapping.
‘Competency mapping’ is used to identify key competencies for a specific occupation in order to improve areas such as recruitment, training and development and performance management.
MKM is no stranger to work of this nature having worked on a Diabetes Care Academy earlier in the year alongside key partners in the Health industry. This online academy included a skills gap analysis and custom-made e-learning for the care and management of diabetes. MKM’s involvement in this important new project serves as further proof that our skills mapping infrastructure is helping health professionals to achieve better results within their organisations.
