01 December 2005 - A-CET - our chosen charity
MKM has recently decided on the African Children’s Educational Trust (A-CET) as our chosen charity.
In a presentation this October (2005), A-CET student Sammy Ayalew showed the staff at MKM the kind of work A-CET is involved in.
A small, independent charity, A-CET already supports over 1,000 African young people in Ethiopia and Sierra Leone, enabling them to pursue and continue their education. The charity provides financial assistance, scholarships, clothing, tools, books etc.
Many of the students are orphans and street children; many have disabilities. By helping them to gain an education, A-CET helps them to find employment and the means to help themselves.
A-CET also works to help local communities in building and equipping their schools, so that more of their children can go to school.
MKM’s first support activity for A-CET will be to work with A-CET to produce a video production called Precious Lives about the work the charity undertakes, and showing some of the young lives they have helped transform.
Further news maintained about the progress of the video in the About Us section of website: options heading with Guiding Principles, Our charity, etc.
