22 May 2005 - STEP into the Summer
MKM is taking in a clutch of bright students this summer. In collaboration with the University of York’s STEP programme in North Yorkshire, MKM will be taking in anywhere between four to six students for July and August.
During their two months, the students will begin and bring to completion a project devised and set up for them by MKM.
Director Mike Moran is delighted to be continuing MKM’s ethos of encouraging the best of York’s students:
“We regard it as important, in our business to encourage young new talent in York, and are happy to act as a stepping stone for young potential.”
The students will be paid a weekly wage, and at the end of their two months their project will be entered into a national contest with a cash prize for the winner.
It is a win-win situation for everybody. As Andrew Ferguson, the programme’s coordinator at the University of York, says:
“Both sides gain a great deal from STEP. Businesses get an enthusiastic, motivated person… and the student has something very concrete to put on their CV.”
