Multi-Port is a flexible e-portfolio designed to manage all aspects of assessment and evidence-based reflective learning. It’s modular, and can be extended and customised to provide exactly the features that you and your curriculum require—from formal competency based assessments, to online spaces where learners can reflect informally on their experiences.
The background
Multi-Port grew out of work-based and competency-based assessment systems for qualifications developed by MyKnowledgeMap with partners including Foundation Degree Forward (the UK government agency for Foundation Degrees), leading Higher Education institutions, Edexcel and other awarding bodies, and sector skills bodies developing NVQs.
Looking at the systems that were currently available, we saw a need for an attractive, usable system that could blend formal and informal assessments—a system that could be used to set tasks and help tutors keep in touch with learners in a simple way.
During successful pilots including Foundation Degree and NVQ delivery, we began to add extra “plug-in” features. Multi-Port now communicates seamlessly with colleges’ existing learning environments, is tailorable by the people teaching with it and can be personalised by learners. It’s good looking and attractive to use, and people away from the learning centre or college can use it to touch base with their tutor, in the easiest way possible.
