CIPD (the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) is
Europe's largest HR and development professional body with over
135,000 members.
ReallyManaging Capability has been used to drive three
assessment systems for CIPD (the Chartered Institute of Personnel
and Development), for developing people's career plans and personal
development objectives. The first tool allows an entire
organisation or company to assess itself against CIPD's HR
Profession Map. The second allows individual CIPD members to
explore the HR Profession Map and assess themselves against it. The
third is used as part of the CIPD membership application
process.
The Requirements
The CIPD tool had to be accessible to a very large number of
users, and had to work without placing a burden on users to
pre-identify important skills that are relevant to the individual.
MKM worked with CIPD to develop specific key assessment scenarios
that are shared across large numbers of users, but that provide
valuable insights depending on what the user selects.
The Challenge
CIPD approached MyKnowledgeMap to povide a set of custom tools
based on the new HR Profession Map, which could be used by HR
professionals and CIPD members in various positions to explore the
map and understand areas for development.
The Solution
CIPD use a heavily tailored version of Capability Matrix
designed to support their new HR Competency Map. This enables the
delivery of high value-add consultancy services from CIPD to many
well known national and international organisations.
CIPD use another tailored version of Capability Matrix using the
same HR Map to offer high function self-service skills diagnostic
services to their 144,000 members. This enables individual
members to perform their own self assessment, produce a detailed
personal progression report and to receive signposting to priority
areas for self development, that may include units of CIPD
qualifications or reading materials.
