Our Charity Work

MyKnowledgeMap’s chosen charity is the African Children’s Educational Trust (A-CET). In a presentation in October 2005, A-CET student Sammy Ayalew showed the staff at MKM the kind of work A-CET is involved in.

A small, independent charity, A-CET already supports over 1,000 young people in Ethiopia and Sierra Leone, enabling them to pursue and continue their education. The charity provides financial assistance, scholarships, clothing, tools, books etc.

Many of the students are orphans and street children and many have disabilities. By helping them to gain an education, A-CET gives them the opportunity to find employment and the means to help themselves. A-CET also works to help local communities in building and equipping their schools, so that more of their children can go to school.

MKM’s first support activity for A-CET was to work with them to produce a video production called Precious Lives about the work the charity undertakes, and showing some of the young lives they have helped transform.
