History
Founded in 2000, MyKnowledgeMap has many years' experience of learning technology
Rob Arntsen, former Learning Technology Solutions Manager at IBM, formed MyKnowledgeMap in 2000. The company's initial focus was on competency management, competency analysis and skills gap diagnostics.
From there, MyKnowledgeMap grew to take in e-learning development. In its early years, the company was very focused on both retail and management training, and—working with Manchester Metropolitan University—MyKnowledgeMap became a founder partner of the Retail Academy. This national partnership led to a wide range of projects, working with both centres of excellence in the education sector, and the fledgeling Sector Skills Councils to develop infrastructures to support national, sector-wide skills support.
Meanwhile, MyKnowledgeMap was working to develop major management qualifications with EdExcel. Since then, we have gone on to work with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Chartered Management Institute to support learning and professional development within the traditions of professional associations and membership organisations.
MyKnowledgeMap today has a wide-ranging set of interests, covering all aspects of learning technology. We have worked as the lead partner on national NHS infrastructure projects, helped to support many of the UK's Sector Skills Councils and National Skills Academies, and developed complex systems for Universities, building on their existing infrastructures. We have run trans-national projects, and formed development partnerships in Eastern Europe.
